If you are not yet seeing your music on Facebook or Instagram, it may be because releases are being sent on a rolling basis, which can take several weeks.
Please note that guidelines for track eligibility on Facebook and Instagram are stricter than streaming services. It could also be that your release did not meet their guidelines.
Below outlines what is permitted and what is not allowed for submissions to Facebook and Instagram Stories:
Permitted |
Not Allowed |
Sound recordings that you exclusively own or for which you have exclusive rights. This includes your own material, as well as any third-party content that you have exclusive rights for. Many parties offer “exclusive deals” for their samples, however, this may not mean that you are the only owner of this audio. Please double-check your agreements with all parties before submitting a release. |
Public domain clips or speeches As it’s in the “public domain, no one can exclusively own this content. Therefore, no one can claim eligibility for royalties to it. Example: Sarah and Matt both produce individual recordings using Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream Speech.” If Facebook added these tracks to their audio library, both Sarah and Matt would be claiming ownership of and demanding payment for a sound recording that they never owned to begin with. |
Sound recordings from an audio or sample library While you may purchase samples, loops, or sound effects from an audio library, other artists may also purchase the same samples. This means you do not own exclusive rights for a given sound recording, and therefore you cannot submit it. (This also applies to samples and loops from in-built audio libraries like GarageBand loops). |

Sound-alikes, type-beats, and karaoke versions of songs Again, these sound recordings are available to many artists and thus cannot be owned exclusively. |
